EDUCATION
The PPS Center will affect
education from elementary grades through graduate
school, with a principal focus at the undergraduate
and graduate level in engineering.
|
GOALS:
-Increase visibility for Engineering and UCI
-Mentor promising students at all levels
-Encourage under-represented minorities to enroll and succeed in engineering
-Provide outreach technology training to affiliated institutions |
The Education is both systems oriented and
interdisciplinary; Outreach builds on substantial
existing infrastructure

- Create unprecedented opportunity for research projects across traditional disciplinary boundaries.
- Special research involvement mechanisms created to encourage participation of students (both graduate and undergraduate) from Outreach Universities and Community Colleges.
- New graduate courses to serve these interdisciplinary demands will also be created.
- To serve interested individuals from industry, the Center will include two-way internship opportunities.
- Bring industrial participants to the University.
- Take University participants (students and faculty) to industrial settings when appreciation of the target technology is needed. |
